through this trip, i learnt a lot from the crew member on how the ship is run and even got to see parts of the ship that normal passengers don't get to see! cool huh?
haha. besides having fun on the ship through enjoying the ship's production shows, playing basketball on the deck, or even playing card games in our rooms, i'm glad that i had the opportunity to get to know some other students from my course who also went with us on the trip! i'm glad we captured some good memories together during the cruise...
check out the photos we took <here> and <HERE> too!! haha...

have you ever stayed actively awake for 41 hours straight?
i just did from Friday, 25 Jul (730am) to Sunday, 27 Jul (12mn)! WOW!! i tell you, it was a really indescribable experience! i wasn't sure if i was awake or dreaming during that time...
let me now attempt to recall what i had been through in the 41 hours...
Friday, 25 Jul 7am (0 hours awake):
i woke up and went to school for half of the POA lecture before my group left to prepare for our Macroeconomics ICA 2 project presentation! i was really nervous, yet i couldn't wait to show our class the videos that we made! -_-
11am (4 hours awake):
we had our Macroeconomics ICA 2 project presentations! there were 5 groups and we were the 4th group! so it was really nerve-wrecking to see the other groups present and answer the Q & As, but at the same time, it was really entertaining to watch the videos of the other groups and listen to them present! Great job, class!!! (:
Finally, it was our group's turn to present! we started off with our 1st video "Finding US 20million"...
then we presented our proposal as business partners of JAPCC (Japan-Australia Proposal Cosplay Cafe). here is our second video, "Cosplay Cafe Advertisement + Credits"...
after that, we showed our "NG Scenes" that we had during filming...
haha! that was our CRAZY presentation! Our tutor said that our group did a great job with our project! He even mentioned that it was one of the most united group presentations he has seen for this module! YAY! Praise God for granting us favour and helping us through the whole process! It was a good group and we all managed to work fairly well together as a team! Great job, guys!! i had fun working on this project together with you guys!
anyways, after the presentations and photo-taking sessions, i rushed down to PHS for the final POP rehearsal. the attendance wasn't really ideal, but we managed to do a few good run-throughs. when the rehearsal ended, we quickly gathered the supporting contingents to help with the setup and preparations for the hall and the parade square!
6pm (11 hours awake):
after tying up some problems that cropped up, we had a debrief later in the evening to cover everything that is left for the POP the next day. then we prayed and committed everything to God...
8pm (13 hours awake):
i had a delicious packet of chicken rice for dinner with bryan, jiang wei, jonathan & joshua at school... it was really satisfying...
10pm (15 hours awake):
after dinner, joshua & i followed jiang wei home to pack his bag for the next day's events...
11pm (16 hours awake):
then we went off to AMK mrt where we sent joshua off before i brought jiang wei home to stay over. we had to stay up to prepare the video slideshows and powerpoint presentations for the UG tributes as the committee didn't manage to do it...
Saturday, 26 Jul
4.30am (21.5 hours awake):
in the end, we finished work at 4.30am. we had to be in school by 6am. so we decided not to sleep anymore. instead, we had breakfast (bread & milk) and got ready to go out. i took a quick cold shower to refresh myself before we left.
5.30am (22.5 hours awake):
we started walking towards Bishan mrt... we were really 'high' on our way there. we started singing songs and laughing (okay, i know that sounds crazy.. but we just couldn't help it!) but when we got there, we realised that the train service towards jurong east hadn't started yet! so we decided to cab down instead...
6am (23 hours awake):
once at phs, we took some time to settle ourselves down.. then we got things and people moving to prepare the parade square and the hall for the POP. at the very last minute, we all scrambled to arrange all the table and benches in the hall before getting ready to start at the parade square...
8am (25 hours awake):
after ensuring that everyone was ready in their positions, we started off the parade. overall, the parade went rather smoothly and the tossing-of-berets was great!
9am (26 hours awake):
after some photo-taking in the parade square, we finally got everyone settled down in the hall... i had to use my laptop in the end as the powerpoints were not compatible with the school's PA computer.. then, we started with each individual UG tribute... some brought laughter, while others brought tears... overall, it made the whole POP this year a bit more special...
i would say that all the effort that was put into this POP was worth it when i saw the UG cadets really showing appreciation to their seniors!
10.30am (27.5 hours awake):
after the buffet lunch (that i never got to eat..) and the distribution of the POP T-shirt, and the final clearing-up of the hall, parade square and the canteen... the POP committee and i had a final debrief! we congratulated each other for the success of the event, and encouraged each other to do even better in the future! finally, we turned to God to thank Him for the sweet success that he allowed us to taste! Amen!
12.30pm (29.5 hours awake):
when we were done 'dilly-dallying', a few of the primers decided to go to dhoby ghaut for lunch and 'shopping'.. so we made our way there.. by then, jiangwei and i were already feeling 'dreamy'.. but we were hungry, so we persevered.. lol.
1.30pm (30.5 hours awake):
we had a good meal at Long John Silver, Plaza Singapura.. then, we visited Sheron who was working at Gelare... after that, we walked about for just awhile...
2.30pm (31.5 hours awake):
jiang wei & i left to go for the Founders' Award Presentation Ceremony (FAPC)... it was held at the Singapore Swimming Club (SSC)... on the train towards serangoon, we both we almost dozing off, but i encouraged us both to perk up because we had chosen to commit for the duty.. so we should give our 100%!
4pm (33 hours awake):
we finally made it to the SSC in our (POP T-shirts and slippers) after taking bus 158 frm serangoon...there, we met the other primers and officers on duty and we briefed before we got changed back into our full uniform (again.) i was assigned to do the carpark duty, so we were given walkie-talkies to communicate among ourselves... that was really cool!
6pm (35 hours awake):
overall, i had a great time of fun & fellowship with the primers from the other companies and enjoyed the 9-course dinner (although i didn't get to try everything because we had to do our duty..) but it was a really good experience doing the ushering and also witnessing the 5 Founder's Men from BB27! i loved taking photos with them...
10.30pm (39.5 hours awake):
our final duty was over! the journey back was really tough. by then, jiang wei and i were really, really exhausted. i was feeling really lost in a world that i wanted to go home immediately! i couldn't even tell what was real or not..
11.30pm (40.5 hours awake):
i finally got home! i took a really well-deserved warm shower...
Sunday, 27 Jul 12am (41 hours awake):
i went to sleep.
i really thank God that he helped me to get home safely. it is a memorable experience that i will remember...
i met my childhood friends (from my childcare centre 'BCC') on 2 April 2008! but i'm too lazy to blog about it.. so just read about it HERE on my friend's blog!!! XD
Also, just on Saturday (5 April), i participated in the BB Adventure Quest 2008!! the day before, many things happened. samuel was down with a really high fever of up to 39 degrees Celsius! the best solution then was to let bryan leave the open team to join the boys team. at least the boys would all have a chance to take part in the race. but, then the open team would be incomplete and we might not get to take part.
we all prayed for a miracle to happen. we did not pray that we could all take part, but rather, we prayed for samuel's healing that he would be well again.
later in the night, by God's grace, samuel seemed to feel much better!
samuel himself also felt really bad about falling sick. he kept calling wencong to ask if he could take part. he said that he was feeling better and wanted to join us. even his mother agreed to let him participate. but mr ong didn't allow it. he didn't want to put samuel's life in danger..
but after much consideration, samuel was allowed to take part with us!! but he would not stay over with us the night before the race.. he was to rest at home first and meet us in phs early the next morning before the race!! PRAISE GOD!!
Finally, we were all set for the race.. we got lost a few times, but at least we managed to find our way back. Many times i felt like giving up.. but i thank God that in the end we managed to finish the race!!
We didn't win any prizes that day. but at least all our teams completed the race!! Jonathan's team came in around the 20th position, while Joash's team was in 35th place.. for us, in the open category, we were in the TOP 16!! (out of 20 open teams, with 4 team disqualified!) haha..
but still, praise God that he was with us throughout!!
well, while this race is over, another journey is about to begin! school is about to start next week, and orientation is this Thursday.. i can't wait to start, yet i'm abit nervous about how everything would turn out! i'm hoping that i can meet great friends in my class so that i won't be lonely for the next 3 years!!!
for now, i have lots of packing to do! i need to clear up all my OLD secondary school stuff to prepare way for my new poly stuff!!!
btw, i'm blogging on my new HP notebook that i just bought last friday!!!
AQ camp was great! it was held from 1-3 Feb in PHS! so on the first night, we all helped to clean out and rearrange the BB room with new shelves that we fixed together... it was good time of bonding and getting to know each other better..
the next day, we attended the BB parade where the new sec1s joined us.. after parade, we dragged tyres around the field and parade square 20 times and crossed over a large skipping rope (with our tyres) consecutively... then in the evening, we even bathed 'together' to 'get to know each other better'..
then on sunday, after an emotional service (for me), we watched an inspirational movie together.. it was called 'Facing the Giants'.. it's about how an American Football School Coach experienced the Lord's grace when he chose to honour God first after he realised that his life and his team was falling apart.. after the movie, i was surprised to find out later that this movie was based on a true story as it was really unbelieveable and so amazing!!
After the camp, we were all planning to go and play 'LAN' together.. after all, we had bonded together so well as the camp had been quite fruitful to everyone.. we learnt so much about discipline (Hebrews 12: 1-10) and how we should aim to honour God in everything that we do...
But i never expected something like this to happen.
i didn't have the opportunity to use my phone because of the camp. so on the last day, before break camp, when i got back my phone, i realised that my family had been trying to contact me to inform me that my ah gong (grandfather) was feeling very ill. they were planning to go and visit him after church that day! by then, it was already past 2.30pm- church normally ends at 12nn. so i thought that i had missed them already.. but fortunately, my mum called me after i replied her sms. she said that dad could fetch me from phs so that i could go straight to JB to visit my ah gong..
so in the end, i didn't go with the team for more bonding.. later when i got back, i found out from kennedy that they also didn't go for 'LAN' because they 'felt bad' about going when i left.. thank God for friends that truly respect and care for me!
We arrived in JB and took a taxi to the the nursing home where ah gong resided in.. on our way there, we suddenly got a call from ah-yee (aunt) that ah gong had been admitted to the hospital because of breathing difficulties.. so we had no choice but to head down to ah-yee's place first. we were unable to visit him immediately because administrative work had to be done for his admission first..
Later in the evening, we went down to the hospital with ah-yee.. at first, i was a bit afraid to see him. when we got there, i saw a very old man lying on the bed, desperately gasping for air.. i was still too afraid to say anything much to him. all i could do was to watch mum and ah-yee busy worrying about ah gong- like how he should be 'proped up' so that he could breathe better; how his oxygen intake levels were not right; and how there should be bed guards so that he would not fall off the bed while he was asleep.. i started to feel more concerned about him. i felt that i had to do something to help him.. but i was just left helpless..
then the doctor came over and told us that the hospital would not be attempting to resuscitate him due to his terminal illness and age. she predicted that ah gong would only have a few more hours to live. my heart melted. i thought to myself, "Does it mean that he was going to die?" i knew that it was a rhetorical question with an obvious answer. but i just could not accept the reality that was right in my face. i had never really experienced the death of someone close in my family. when someone passed away, it was either because i was still too young to remember, or that the person was too distant from my family..
was i about to understand how it feels to lose someone dear?
the strange thing was that i had never really seen or talk to him or even have a personal relationship with him. why did my heart feel so heavy? why was there such intensity in my heart that something saddening what about to happen?
maybe it was because he kept gasping for air, frequently adjusting his oxygen mask in discomfort? or maybe it was painful to see him groan and massage his forehead to soothe his unbearable pain? or it was probably because he looked so pale in the face and hands- his fingers were too cold for the machine to even detect any pulse..
i didn't want anything bad to happen. i didn't want to allow it to. i was still desperately holding on to the hope that maybe, just maybe a miracle could happen. that would explain why i kept rubbing his arms and hands, trying my best to keep him warm, before we left the hospital. in the end, i was the last person to see him at the hospital bed.
back in the car, i couldn't hold back my tears any longer. i just cried.
we went back to Singapore later that night. i had hoped that i would wake up to a new morning where everything was still fine and normal. but instead i woke up hearing mum telling someone on the phone that ah gong passed away at 12.55am that night.
it was time to face the reality. ah gong was gone..
but he had gone home to be with the Lord! so it was something to praise God about! i thank God that his salvation was upon ah gong just one month back on 1 Jan 2008.. thank God that the whole family was willing to have a Christian funeral and columbarium prepared for him! the funeral service was a really encouraging one that i believe had spoken to the whole family! Praise God for the strength and peace that He gave us to continue with life.
my first choice is Nanyang Polytechnic's Hospitality & Resort Management.
the Cut-Off Point (COP) for this course is 13! my ELR2B2 is 12! but hopefully i can deduct 2 points off for my CCA!!
this decision was after so much deliberation and objection from many people.. i'm just praying that this is where God wants me to go into...
all i can do now is to wait for the JAE results to be out (tentatively) on 19 Feb!!
anyways, today's PD training was great! the team bonded so much better now with new found discipline! thank God for that!! i can't wait for tmr's rehearsal for the CNY celebration!!
I must really thank God for helping me through this 'O' Level!!!
I've never passed my A Math before! The best i ever achieved was a D7! But, to my surprise, i managed to get an A2 for the O level!!!! How cool is that?! XD
Now I have to think about where i want to go with these results.....
i'm leaving for Hokkaido tomorrow night!! my flight is at 11.55pm.. i'll be out of Singapore from the 3rd to 11th Dec when i return at 12.05am!!! lol. haha.. yeah.. it's so late!!
anyways, while i'm away, please don't call or sms me!! (unless there's an emergency!!) i'll be bringing my phone to Japan! it's really expensive there.. haha..
i can't wait for the flight tomorrow... so exciting.. haha.. but when i get back, it's time to start work!! so i shall enjoy fully while i can...
i went to sent-O-sa in the middle of my 'O' Levels!!!
i'm still having my Physics and Chemistry MCQs next monday...
anyway, today was worth celebrating... at least for those sub-science students from my class (i.e. adeline, joey and mitchell) who finished their 'O' Levels on tuesday.. so they planned to celebrate at sentOsa... well, glory, zhengjie and i tagged along! XD
there were many silly things that happened today.. the first of which was when we were on our way to the sentosa express (monorail) station at vivocity... we were quite lost as we didn't know where it was.. so we ended up on the rooftop of vivocity... joey had bought some chicken wings to bring to sentOsa.. as we were very 'high' that day (especially mitchell)... mitchell began to toss a chicken wing in the air telling us to look at how the chicken wing could fly... that poor 'bird' ended up crashing to the ground... glory tried to do the same, i guess wanting to have a part of the fun too... anyway, she kinda missed. and here is where it ended up...
the whole plastic bag of the chicken wing, complete with packets of chilli sauce and serviettes, landed on the roof.. hmm... i wonder what has become of it... lol.
when we arrived there, we went swimming in the sea and even swam to the island across the Siloso beach... there, we tossed 'sand balls' into the sea and lazed about in the squishy sand... we found two coconuts on the island and brought them back with us to siloso... glory was suggesting that we break open the coconuts.. then mitchell told joey how she could rub sand on a coconut emerged in water to open it... the rest of us also started to explain to her that there was a certain part of the coconut that was thinner so she could use that method.. in the end, we saw joey attempting to rub the sand on the coconut with all her effort to open the coconut.. finally, we all ended up bursting in to laughter as it was such an amusing sight to see her gullibility...
in the end, zj managed to rip open the coconuts with the help of mitchell's (dad's) swiss army knife and a rock in the beach... unfortunately, it was all rotten inside and it even smelt like eggs... eww... anyway, after playing in the water and also on the beach (volleyball), we decided to go off to the Imbiah lookout as mitchell suggested to have a look at a 'new' ride there... so we got our stuff and headed on our way...
we walked pass a platform of small fountains of water and decided to 'wash our feet' from the sand... but, it didn't stop there!! in the end, we put down all our belongings and started splashing water at each other... mitchell went on to shout victory cries from the freedom of the 'O' levels... we even used our slippers to slapped the water that squirted out! it was really the climax!! all soaked, we decided that we should go as we were becoming an exhibition as batches of people on the trams were looking at us... (and my neck was already SUNBURNT! lol.)
however, the incident that i really remember the most about that day was meeting some 'lost' Japanese guys.. we were just done 'splashing' and were going to see the Imbiah lookout.. we were not sure how to get there so we went to look at the map of sentosa on a directory.. suddenly, two japanese students (they were wearing uniforms) came to us to ask for directions.. they were actually unsure of whether they wanted to ask us, but finally decided to do so... at first we had trouble understanding what they wanted as one of them was trying to communicate with us in english... he was pointing to his map of sentOsa that was in Japanese and that did not make it any easier... lol. we tried to speak in chinese to them but that didn't work.. joey tried some jap but she could only say 'sayonara'... that didn't work either... finally, after much body language and pointing, we figured that they also wanted to get to somewhere around the Imbiah lookout!! so i suggested that they follow us there... even that was hard to communicate to them... but when they finally understood, they were so happy and kept thanking us...
we were planning to take the monorail but they didn't have the tickets.. so we brought them to the station to help them purchase some.. there, the lady at the counter tried to help us with our language barrier (although she also couldn't speak the language) and managed to find out more about them.. they were on a school trip and were driven into sentOsa probably via coach (we couldn't figure out the exact transport that he meant)... the lady was then relieved as we made her job easier when we told her that we would take them to their destination.. lol. she told us that we could take the 'blue line' bus which was a free shuttle that would get us to Imbiah...
since we were going with them, on the way to the bus bay, i decided to do some self-introductions... i found out that their names were Rui Ito and Ikihito respectively... they were from a place near Hokkaido in Japan (that i can't remember) that starts with 'A'... Ikihito was 17 and Rui was about to become the same age later this month... then on the bus, we had fun trying to recall each others' names... hearing them pronounce our names was so interesting and we almost made them believe that mitchell's name was pronounced like 'itch' with a 'b' in front of it... there were 3 guys and girls each in our group and that was probably the reason why Rui asked if we were couples... then came the resounding denials with mitchell insisting that joey's boyfriend was a 'rat' (toby)... they didn't get the joke but that made us laugh really madly..
Ikihito was much quieter but we found out that he was in swimming and Rui was in table-tennis & a sniper club in his school (if that's what i guessed correctly)... on the other hand, we had a terrible time trying to explain our CCAs like BB and NCC to them... we could only successfully relate joey's table-tennis to them... haha.. then joey spotted Rui's phone and tried to ask if she could have a look at it... when he finally understood, we were all amazed at the unique design only to find out from him that he thought that the design was 'not good'... lol.. we ended up talking about japanese brands including the volleyball that we had and the sweets that they showed us!!
anyway, we finally got to Imbiah and they thanked us again continuously.. they managed to find their school mates and initiated to take a group photo!
before they left, Rui gave me all his coins (2 '5 yen' & 2 '1 yen') in his wallet for me to buy "gum and chocolate"... i had told him that i was going to visit Hokkaido in december and he even reminded me that it was going to be very cold there! i was so blessed by this encounter and will definitely remember this! my only regret was forgetting to get their contact so that i could keep in touch with them... but, who knows, i may just see them in Japan in the future.....
"EdUcAtIoN is not only the growth of the MIND, but also of the HEART.." Studying has become more meaningful to me!!! i'm going to work hard for the rest of my prelims and into the 'O' Levels!! jiayou everyone who is going through the same as me... God bless!!! XD
i finally got my Chinese 'O' Level results at 11.35am just now... we all waited outside the Seminar Room as the teacher called us up one by one to show us our result.. when she got to the last person on her list, a group of us still had not gotten our results... so we went up to her and told her our 'O' Level index number to get it..
i got a B4 with a PASS for my oral...
i'm feeling ok about it... at least i passed and i was close to my target (B3)... i don't know if i want to retake it, but i was planning to base my decision on my DPA result.. if i got into Ngee Ann via DPA, i won't have to worry about retaking my Chinese 'O' Level...
the DPA results was to be released at 2pm online... i could not wait for school to be over.. and when it finally did, the whole group of us went up to the MRL to check our results online at the computers.. Jessica, Li Lin, Mitchell & i were there to see our results, while Glory, Jason, Jin Shi, Shi Jia, & Yu Jia were there to support us...
i didn't get in... only Li Lin got into Biotechnology at Nanyang Polytechnic... i'm really glad for her that she got into the course of her interest..
but i'm just disappointed that i could not get in... i really wanted it... a lot...
actually, i told myself even before i got any of my results that i would accept whatever result i got... i had convinced myself that anything that happened would be part of God's plan...
however, when i really got my results... i didn't feel sad or angry... i just felt so lost.. and confused.. i was thinking to myself, "what should i do now?" i lost my purpose...
i tried reminding myself that it was God's plan...
BUT, i did not know what His plan was for me! that's what made me feel so lost... i still feel confused... many ppl have encouraged me.. i have heard them.. and i thank them... but, my heart is still feeling so heavy... why do i feel so burdened?
i thought that i already told myself that i will put in my 100% to study? why do i feel like giving up? when will all this pain go away???
today is the first time in my PHS school days that i left school early coz i was not feelin well...
it was during maths lesson when i started feeling very dizzy and could not focus... i told zheng jie and he suggested that i should go home... so he brought me to find ms jasmiyanti... i called daddy and told him that i wanted to go home... i asked if he could pick me up from school but he said that he was at jurong... he told ms jasmiyanti that i was strong and could take a cab home myself...
so i took the leave form and zheng jie sent me off to take a cab from school... he flagged down a cab for me and i got home at about 11am...
i was feeling so hungry.. so i ate some noodles that my mum prepared and went to sleep at about 12nn... i woke up at about 3pm and ate some fish porridge that mum made... then she took me to the doctor at about 4pm.. at the same time, we took my height and weight...
my height was 176cm and my weight was 54.3kg... so my BMI was 17.5...
the doctor prescribed me some medication.... i had ~BRONCHITIS~
LITHROMAX (2 tablets every morning)
BEN/MUC (10ml for 3 times per day)
SEMPREX (1 tablet for 2 times per day)
SINGULAIR (1 tablet at bedtime)
i also have an MC for today until tomorrow... haix.. that means that i will be missing lessons... but i have asked jinshi to help me to take notes and zhengjie to help me collect my homework... i'm planning to do today's homework tomorrow... for now, i guess i shall go and rest...
lol. it was her birthday and it was really special for her...
her NPCC cadets gave her a custom made bear for her and the whole unit made a circle around her and sung her 'happy birthday...' it was really sweet..
haha.. but i still think the student council was more 'thoughtful'...
lol.. first, we brought ms chong to the council room.. then we presented her the senior council's postcard (which was white and covered in brown spots...hmm...) and then the exco's card...
then we presented to her a huge 'pasar malam' bag... (she is said to be able to fit into it.. haha..) anyway, we began to take out the items in the bag and introduced them to her one by one... each had its special meaning :)
let me give a rough flowchart to give you an idea of our theme: leather (smell) --> cow --> milk --> calcium --> strong bones --> tall-ness!!!
haha... here are a list of items that we got for her...
Cheezels [ingredients: 'milk and cheese solids (from cow)'... haha.. that's what it says..]
18 cups of cheese cake [stay forever '18'...]
Dove Amicelli MILK chocolate...
Measuring Tape [self-awareness...]
Skipping Rope with counter [healthy growth programme..]
HL Fresh MILK [directions: to keep milk fresh, keep it in the cow!!]
1 box of cereals [to go with the MILK...]
1 bottle of COWca-COWla (coca-cola)... [ingredients: strawberries, yoghurt, fish & all other healthy food]
1 size XXS white t-shirt with brown spots... and abit of shoe polish smell (that is supposed to smell like leather... hmm...) [front: CPL JOYCE; back: I AM TALL]
haha... today was fun... i enjoyed LICK cell today as well...
oh ya!!! its tomorrow!!! see you guys at SWENSEN's!!!!!
wow... i just woke up... i reached home at midnight... so tired... haha... but it has been a good day...
yesterday morning, jiang wei came over to my house at 9.30am to leave his full-u and stuff before we went off together to visit jun ning...
at KK, jun ning was looking much better.. they had already removed the tube from his stomach through his nose... the tube for his drip was moved to his left hand from the right as the needle had already been in for 3 days... he told us that he could be discharged on monday after 5 days of anti-biotics.... yea..
i was glad that he had made new friends with the nursing students from ngee ann poly... haha... oh ya... jun ning had not used the pacifier that we got for him.. haha.. so we made him suck the pacifier while jiang wei filmed it... lol. then jun ning wanted to go to the toilet, so he pressed the button to call for the nurse who helped him bring his drip to the toilet... meanwhile, jiang wei watched tv at one of the activity corners while i played with a toy that requires skill to move beads across coloured wires that were twisted all over... i found it so much fun, but jiang wei said that i had a 'deprived childhood'... lol.
anyway, jun ning's classmates came soon after that and we showed them the video that we filmed.. haha.. it was really funny.. they also brought him a banner that they made... it was really long and it said 'Get well soon, Jun Ning!" it was really nice! they asked me to help them to hang up the banner high up on the wall of his bed (i guess it was coz i am tall :) haha..
but then i got an sms from ms lim that i had to be in school by 1pm.. so i quickly left with jiang wei to have lunch at KFC in Novena Square.. then we rushed back home to get our stuff before heading to school.. then while i was having my meeting, jiang wei helped me to polish my equipment! thx man! :)
then at 2pm, the councillors started to gather and we all went to prepare the hall for the event... so everyone was busy preparing, we got dressed into full-u at 3.30pm, the UGs came at abt 4pm, had an early dinner at 5pm... then the welcome party consisting of alistair, jin shi, wenyan, yinxiu and myself went to stand-by at the foyer at 5.30pm... then the long wait began...
we waited anxiously until about 7pm before the Guest-of-Honour finally came... it was a really grand affair! jiang wei and phillip did a great job with the bagpipes, giving her a grand entrance all the way up to the hall... it was a great experience being a part of it...
after ushering her up, we went back to our seats to join in for the event... after the worship, speeches and presentations... it was finally the prize presentation ceremony.. it was a really long wait as i was one of the last few ppl to get my award.. but it was really exciting for everyone as we cheered for each other when we went up... when it was finally my turn to go up... i was so nervous that i just went up to the person presenting the award, shook her hand then took the plaque without even waiting for a photo! lol. i feel so weird now, coz i was really nervous then that i could not wait to get off the stage.. haha..
after it was finally over, i rushed down back to my table and left my award there.. then i quickly rushed down to the council room to get changed into my blazer... everything was happening so fast... after i got changed, i realised that my hair was in a huge mess! i was so worried that i quickly got wax then put it on my hair! but i didn't know how to style it! i don't normally 'style' my hair! lol.. so i quickly rushed out of the toilet to see who could help me! then i saw alistair in the council room and asked him to help me with my hair... lol. after that, i quickly rushed up as i was supposed to serve at the VIPs' table for dinner and i did not want to miss it... but when i got up, my councillors were shocked at my hair! lol. then janelle used her hand and ruffled my hair! iwas so surprised! she took me out of the hall again and helped me to style my hair! haha.. it was so weird...
when my makeover was finally over, i made it in time for the school song, after which, the dinner reception.. it was fun serving food and drinks to the VIPs as i had never done it before... lol.. during dinner, i was so happy that they played my video tribute to the 5th Student Council! haha.. my efforts had paid off!!
then the photo-taking began! i took photos with those 4H ppl who were there, with jiahui & greg & yc, (lol.. photo was too bright!) with greg, his mum and my mum! lol.. so all happened to fast!! finally it was time to send the GOH and VIPs off... it was encouraging to hear compliments about our councillors from them... i also think that the UGs on duty did a GREAT JOB!! i'm so proud of them!! it must have been really hard on them!!
then it was feasting time!! as there were still lots of food and drinks left in the hall, the councillors, backstage crew and UGs were allowed to come up to eat the food! haha.. it was really rewarding for them!! then it was more photo-taking for us councillors at the stage!! haha... after having so much fun, the job still had to be done, so we all helped out to clear up the hall...
after debriefs and all, everyone finally was dismissed to go home and have a good rest!! i really think that this experience will be remembered fondly by many ppl... there are more memories to be captured like for the upcoming investiture... haha..
to end off, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR MAKING THIS THANKSGIVING & HONOURS NIGHT SUCH A SUCCESSFUL ONE!!!!
today was a really busy day... had the second and last day of "Celebrate Life!" Seminar in the morning... i attended a talk on 'Mass Communication" by Ngee Ann Poly, and 'Business Administration' by Nanyang Poly... but both polys ended up talking about their facilities and other courses in the school. lol.
after that, during assembly periods, there was a youth forum on the movie "Freedom Writers" that the whole school went down to watch... ms tang asked germaine and myself to carry out the forum just 1 hour before it!! lol. we were so unprepared that ms chionh ended up running the whole thing.. haha. it was very interesting...
after school, it got really busy... the sec1-3 BB boys gathered to meet mr teo about the milk run on sunday... i was disappointed that most of the sec1s did not stay back and just walked off... anyway, i had a quick lunch with greg after that and went up to the hall for the honours night rehearsal... it got really messy as everyone was all around and i was running around the place.. the UGs had to plan for the traffic control, i had to guide my councillors who would be doing the ushering in the hall and i had to prepare myself to collect my award...
when all that was finally done, i went down to find that pd had not started at all as they were not ready- but playing soccer... hmm.... anyway, we finally started at about 4.15pm... we trained until about 6pm and sent the boys off to go home and rest... i waited for johnson to finish planning the KAH and other stuff for the NDP before going home with him and huda...
yea. overall, it had been a really busy day... as usual... haix...
PD is also getting more active soon... which is a great thing for the boys.. haha.. but i hope that i can have enough of my own time to study... besides the performance for the MILK run on 1st July, we have also just accepted the performance for the "Hillary Challenge" closing ceremony organised by the MOE CCAB which will be held on 15 July... we might also be asked to perform for the BB Cares closing ceremony that should be around that time... another possible performance could be on the teachers day celebrations in september... so the PD schedule is definitely going to be filled up very soon... yup...
thank God for all these, but i'm still praying that i will know how to prioritise...
i stepped down from BB in april.. i'm about to step down from council in july... so i'm supposed to be more free to study right?
WRONG.
i seem to be as busy as ever!!!
i've been helping the PD team during trainings to prepare them for the MILK RUN performance on sunday... there are rehearsals for HONOURS NIGHT coming up tomorrow and next week for the event on friday evening... the following friday after that, there is the 6th STUDENT COUNCIL INVESTITURE, with all the rehearsals on that week as well... then there's the upcoming NDP '07 CELEBRATIONS in our school, where i find myself helping the committee as well!!
not forgetting, i have more important things coming up too... my ENGLISH ORAL PRELIMS this saturday, and my 'O' LEVEL CHINESE ORAL EXAMINATION on wednesday after that!!!
today, the whole school went down to Cathay Cineplex at Dhoby Ghaut to watch "Freedom Writers"!!! i must say, it was a really inspirational and touching movie!!
to give you a better idea of what the movie is about, watch this trailer...
